Aldi Ireland customer gets fright after spider-like surprise in roll

An Aldi customer got a fright when he opened his brioche rolls to find a spider like imprint on one of them.

Carlow man Ewan Hutchinson, 18, bought the rolls at the Hanover store but wasn't expecting the black imprint on the side.

Ewan told the Irish Mirror: "I noticed it when I was just making lunch a few days ago after I brought them home.

"I took out three rolls, sliced two of them and then went onto the third one and it had this thing in it.

"I thought it was a spider but we're not really sure what it is. I was just a bit grossed out by it. But it didn't stop me from eating the other two rolls."

Ewan said he didn't go near the strange looking roll and put it straight back in the bag before binning it.

He added: "Nope I didn't even go near it, straight into a sandwich bag for fear it was a spider. I should probably have a look inside but curiosity kills the cat as they say."

Aldi have been in contact with Ewan since he asked them about the roll but he is awaiting further response.

A spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are currently investigating the matter with our suppliers, and we would like to assure customers that quality of our products is of the utmost importance to us."
