Aldi has changed its rules on what shoppers are allowed to buy

After weeks of panic buying due to the coronavirus lockdown, supermarkets are finally slowing down a little, and are becoming more equipped to provide the products shoppers need.

To deal with the issue of stockpiling, most major supermarkets implemented a maximum number of products which could be bought by a single household during a trip.

One of those stores was Aldi - but as of today, the brand has announced that some restrictions have been lifted.

Up until now, every product has been limited to four items per person. However, as product availability has now improved, the limits have been lifted on most products.

From Tuesday 31 March, the following restrictions will apply across all UK stores.

Four per customer:

  • Antibacterial wipes
  • Hand wash and soap
  • Shower gel
  • Bleach
  • Toilet tissue, kitchen towel, tissues
  • Nappies
  • Pasta
  • Canned tomatoes, canned beans and sausages
  • Part baked bread
  • Beers, wines and spirits

The following products will be limited to two per customer:

  • Antibacterial hand gel
  • UHT milk
  • Baby formula

A spokesperson for Aldi told Manchester Evening News: "While we would still encourage people to buy only what they need, product availability in store is good and the move will make it easier for people to shop for vulnerable people and those who are self-isolating."
