Aldi extends Deliveroo trial to new city with essentials delivered in 30 mins

You can now get Aldi groceries delivered to your door in more places after the supermarket extended its experiment with Deliveroo to a new city.

The budget grocer launched its first trials of home food deliveries you choose yourself last month, offering a high-speed service from its Daleside Road store in Nottingham.

Partnering with Deliveroo to get the food to people's doors, it extended the trial to a further seven stores across the East Midlands in June.

And now, for the first time, London will also be included after Aldi's Camden branch was added to the new system.

Aldi's Richard Thornton said: “In the three weeks since we launched our partnership with Deliveroo, feedback from customers has been very positive.

“Extending that partnership to around 100,000 people living near our Camden store will make it even easier for them to access great-quality, affordable food at Aldi’s unbeatable prices.”

If successful, the Deliveroo service could be launched to more stores across the UK before the end of the year.

Customers using the service can choose from around 200 essential Aldi products - which are picked and packed by Aldi staff for delivery by Deliveroo’s network of riders.

The shopping will then be delivered to addresses within two miles of the participating Aldi stores in as little as 30 minutes.

It's Aldi's second foray into the home delivery market for food, after it introduced food delivery parcels in April.

The grocer's £23.99 pre-packed parcels contain 22 products including tinned soup, rice, pasta and toilet roll - and sold out in just minutes when they first appeared online.
