Aldi ditches popular two-metre pig in blanket and introduces 'Pigs in Beds' and other 'porky delights'

It's been a sought-after product for sausage lovers during the festive season, but sadly Aldi's two-metre pig in blanket is no more.

The retailer has decided to ditch the popular product this Christmas, much to the dismay of shoppers.

But all is not lost as there are some new award-winning 'porky delights' up for grabs at the supermarket - Pigs in Beds, Stags in Quilts - and the return of the Chilli Pigs in Blankets.

The retailer says it has 'upgraded its sausage selection' – 'not just wrapping them in a snug blanket, but instead tucking them into a cosy bed'.

Aldi's new festive sausage range (Aldi)

New for 2021 and named ‘Best Pigs in Blankets’ at the Quality Food Awards, the Pigs In Beds (£3.99, 456g), feature bitesize pork piglets in an apple and honey meat ‘bed’, nestled on cranberry ‘pillows’ and tucked up under a ‘blanket’ of smoked bacon to form 'a deluxe side for turkey'.

These are available in stores from December 19.

The new 'indulgent' Specially Selected Stags in Quilts (£2.49, 240g 10 pack), are 'crafted with succulent British wild venison and mouth-watering pork cranberry chipolatas, rolled in a generous amount of streaky British bacon'.

This festive trimming will be available in stores from December 9.

Finally, 'back by popular demand' are the Ghost Chilli Pigs in Blankets (£2.29, 240g), billed as 'perfect for those who want to add some spice to their Christmas dinner', and on sale from December 2.
