Aldi customers warned over technical glitch with card payments

Customers who shop at Aldi are being warned over a technical glitch with the store's payment by card system.

The error was first spotted at a store in Rhyl, North Wales, and was flagged by a series of signs near the store's tills.

The signs read: "A technical error meant that Mastercard and VISA payments made by customers in this store were not processed between August 15 and September 22.

"If you shopped here during this period and paid on card you will see the transaction complete and appear on your bank statement from Thursday, October 3."

Aldi is urging anyone affected by overdraft charges as a result of the error to contact the company, reports the MEN .

No other stores have reported errors, but if you shopped in Aldi in the same period you are advised to double check your account just to be on the safe side.

For further information or to voice any concerns, you can contact Aldi's customer service desk on 0800 042 0800.
