Aldi customer services phone line goes down - how you can contact the supermarket

It is often frustrating for people when they need to phone a major for some reason or another, but they can't get through.

That is the case for Aldi customers this morning (Friday, November 19) as their customer service phone number is unavailable.

The budget supermarket announced other ways for customers to contact them on Twitter this morning as the chain is not reachable on the usual phone number.

Aldi is currently one of the fastest-growing supermarkets in the UK, having announced in September that it would invest £1.3 billion over the next two years with plans to open a new store every week.

Part of that huge expenditure is an investment in technology, although the current technology is having some work done today.

On Twitter today, the company wrote: "We currently have planned work taking place on our Customer Service telephone line."

The retailer did provide alternative methods of contact, however.

Customers can direct-message them on Twitter or Facebook, and can also use the form on their website at this link.

The company has also set up a temporary freephone number, which is 0808 178 6860.

UPDATE 12:55PM: The normal Aldi customer service phone number is now working as normal - 0800 042 0800.
