Aldi Christmas: Shoppers left ecstatic over huge two-metre long pig in blanket

Although Christmas will be slightly different this year, it hasn't stopped shoppers from stocking up on some festive food and all of the trimmings.

And of course, one of the most-loved items on the table is and always will be, pigs in blankets.

The simple dish of a sausage wrapped in bacon has had the nation's mouths watering for years, and just when you think it couldn't get any better, it does.

This year, Aldi have released the ultimate pig in blanket, with a giant two-metre long swirl of the iconic side.

For £4.99, the frozen dish is around the size of a pizza and could satisfy the cravings of around 10 people, with shoppers ecstatic to get their hands on one.

Commenting online about the dish, one shopper said: "Stick some stuffing n gravy on the top and that'll be my Xmas dinner."

Another replied: "This is top tier Christmas dinner scran."

The pig in a rather large blanket can be found in the frozen section, alongside Aldi's large turkey crowns.

This year, the supermarket have pledged that they will be donating £1 per turkey to to the Neighbourly Foundation in the run-up to the big day.

The supermarket expects to raise over £400,000 to help fight food poverty with this initiative, as part of its mission to support the Neighbourly Foundation in helping to look after the health and happiness of communities across the UK.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “It’s great to be able to give shoppers the chance to get ahead for Christmas by offering our fresh turkeys earlier than normal.

"However, we know that for many, food poverty is a stark reality during these difficult times. That’s why we’re trying to support the communities in which we operate by providing a £1 donation for every fresh turkey we sell, in a bid to help tackle the issue of hunger.”
