Aldi changes product restrictions and opening hours to help shoppers

Aldi has made some new changes to the way people can shop during coronavirus lockdown.

The supermarket giant is bringing in a raft of updated measures from today, Monday April 13, including opening hours and restrictions.

In an email to all its customers, CEO Giles Hurley said that due to hard working suppliers and staff, Aldi now has "good" availability of stock.

As a result, they are removing any remaining restrictions on products.

This means there is now no need for shopper to visit stores "first thing in the morning."

Aldi will now stay open until 10pm - after many supermarkets were forced to shorten their opening hours.

The new timings will be in place from Monday to Saturday with Sunday operating at its usual reduced hours.

Another change is that Aldi is introducing new priority shopping time for elderly or vulnerable customers who have no option but to visit stores.

Exclusive access to stores will be given for these customers 30 minutes before normal opening times, Monday to Saturday.

From Tuesday 14th April, Aldi is also extending its priority shopping time for emergency workers.

As of Tuesday, April 14,  this will now include all groups entitled to a Blue Light card, such as social care workers, first responders and St John's Ambulance staff.

These groups, alongside the NHS, Police and Fire Service, will be given exclusive access to our stores 30 minutes before normal opening on Sundays.

They will also continue to have priority access to our stores around the clock.

We remain as committed as ever to providing you with a quick, safe and affordable shopping experience when you visit your local Aldi store.

Mr Hurley ended his messaged to customers: "In the meantime I want to extend my gratitude not only to our amazing Aldi colleagues and the incredible NHS, but to all key workers who continue to inspire the nation every single day.

"I will, of course, keep you updated about any new significant steps we’re taking. Thank you for your continued support."
