Aldi brings back KitchenAid mixer dupe ahead of Great British Bake Off saving shoppers £300

The wholesome, autumnal comfort that is The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens tonight (September 13), and will see many budding bakers wondering what they could whip up in the kitchen themselves.

Just in time for the Channel 4 show bringing kitchen chaos back into our homes, Aldi has brought back its popular stand mixer - which is a dupe of the KitchenAid’s much more expensive electricals.

The Ambiano Classic Stand Mixer costs less than £50 and has nearly 300 five star reviews. The KitchenAid equivalent - which is the gadget of choice in the Bake Off tent - costs a minimum of £349, making Aldi’s an extremely affordable option by comparison.

Shoppers looking to give themselves a star baker title can choose from a variety of colours, including pearl-white, cream, pink and grey . The machine features a large five litre mixing bowl with a 2.6L working capacity.

The mixer is made from a high quality plastic housing with stainless steel detail, and has a rotary switch with eight speed levels and pulse functionality. It also comes with a flat beater, a non-stick whisk, a non-stick dough hook and a splash guard, all of which can go in the dishwasher.

Those who have already snapped up the mixer have been impressed, with Mrs M writing: “This is such a good price for a stand mixer, nice though the expensive ones are they are meant for catering kitchens and unless you are Mary Berry you don’t need one I would say.

“This has made fab meringues and cakes, is easy to use and I am so pleased I bought it. I have in fact just bought another for a Crimbo pressie. The new version has a bowl with a handle so it's better again.”

Fizzy123 has a KitchenAid, but purchased the Aldi version for her grandchild. She said: “Bought for my 8yr old granddaughter for Xmas as she’s an avid baker and wanted one like mine (KitchenAid) which is out of the question price wise! I’ve checked it out and it seems very easy to use and feel it’s much safer than my mixer.

“She’s going to love it and the pink colour is fabulous. I can’t wait to see her face when she opens it! Thanks, Aldi!”

One review called it the “perfect mixer”, saying: “This stand mixer is just what I wanted! Not too big for the kitchen, but big enough to bake for the family.”

Another said: “As a beginner this mixer is ideal very sturdy and does all I need it for.”

Several more reviews attest to how easy the stand mixer is to clean, the quality and the aesthetic appearance. Some even said it worked the same as “more expensive versions”. You can buy the Ambiano Classic Stand Mixer for £49.99 on Aldi .
