Aldi bosses give statement on stock as workers to get bonus

Aldi employees who have worked since the coronavirus pandemic started in the UK will get a 10 per cent bonus.

The budget supermarket has thanked its "amazing" staff for their commitment while reassuring customers shelves will keep being restocked.

In a letter to customers, Aldi’s chief executive officer Giles Hurley said: “Please rest assured our stores are receiving new deliveries every single day.

“If we work together, we can ensure everyone is safe and we can all buy the shopping we need for ourselves and our families.”

He added: “Our store and logistics colleagues have shown amazing commitment and have worked incredibly hard over these past weeks.

“They are on the front line of a vital national effort to ensure that everyone has access to food and other essentials, which is why we have recognised their hard work with a 10% bonus on all hours worked during this extremely challenging period.

“We are also recruiting an additional 9,000 colleagues who will be able to support our amazing store and logistics teams as we continue to feed the nation.”
