Aldi Beehive Easter Egg leaves experts buzzing in national taste test

Budget grocery chain Aldi has received some cracking results in a poll to find the nation's top Easter eggs.

Aldi’s Specially Selected Exquisite Beehive Egg (£14.99/600g) has created a huge buzz after winning the BBC Good Food’s 2021 Easter Taste Award for ‘Best White Chocolate Egg’, beating Waitrose, Morrisons and Marks & Spencer to the crown.

The winning egg retails for just £14.99, making it £55 cheaper than last year’s Good Housekeeping Institute winner from The Chocolate Libertine.

Available in-store now, Aldi’s luxurious Fairtrade blonde chocolate egg includes fine honeycomb pieces, bee pollen and is decorated with stunning milk chocolate and honey caramel-filled bees.

The giant hive is finished with a gold lustre and presented above a hidden drawer of 12 milk chocolate and salted caramel truffles.

Anna Lawson, food and drink writer at BBC Good Food, praised the gorgeous Easter Egg, stating it “really wowed” the judges; “not only with its show-stopping beehive design, but its many different flavours and textures.”

Also triumphing in the BBC Good Food Easter Taste Awards was Aldi’s Dairyfine Strawberries & Cream Milkshake Egg (£6.99, 250g), which won the ‘Best Children’s Egg’ category, and the Moser Roth Luxury Egg Box (£4.99, 180g), which won ‘Best Miniature Eggs’ category.

Customers can buy Aldi’s award-winning easter egg range in-store.
