Aldi baby and toddler event is back and competing with the big brands

By Karen Antcliff

It's arrived. Just as the Christmas decorations have gone back in their boxes, Aldi has the next gift in store - its annual baby event.

As usual, the store is rolling out some big name dupes for the event which it says are at a "fraction of the cost of the big brands".

The event started on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

In the line up are essentials starting in price from 99p for Mamia newborn nappies, right up to a stroller at £139.99.

Be aware though that some items are only available online.

As we've come to expect for the discount retailer, there are some cheeky 'lookalikes'.

Hot on the tail of Cuthbert the Caterpillar and the light up Christmas Gin bottles, the supermarket brand says that it is competing with the likes of Argos. Its Double Electric Breast Pump, for instance at £89 is "up to 45% cheaper than other retailers" claims the brand.

Other products aimed to get parents talking are bedside cribs, changing bags, training toilets... plus a Baby Carrier at £19.99, which the firm says "comes in at £30 cheaper than its Nuby counterpart".

But Aldi is reminding shoppers that these are "Specialbuys" and "once they’re gone, they’re gone!".

Also included in the line-up of products this year are mums-to-be Body Pillows at £16.99, Bedside Cribs at £124.99 and useful 2.5 Tog Baby Sleep Bag's priced at £9.99.

Aldi fans soon took to social media to share their excitement about the event and to tag in friends.

One fan wrote on Facebook: "These events are class - btw the stuff's really good quality if ur needing bits"

While another said "Keep and eye out for buggy"

The Baby Carrier comes in at £19.99 (Aldi)

And another tagged in a friend and wrote: "Might like something for baby" with another poster saying "gates, which me and you both are gonna need."

For those new or soon to be parents on the look out for kit there are also Baby Changing Bags for £19.99, Baby Play Gym at £29.99, Baby Safety Gate at £14.99, boxes of Mamia Wipes at £5.29 for a box of 9 (60 wipers per pack) and the Aldi’s Baby Trainer Toilet at 19.99 that comes complete with flushing sounds and wipe storage!
