Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons shoppers given exact times food is reduced

Let's be honest, what shopper isn't partial to a bargain - even more so when it helps to cover the cost of the everyday essentials.

As such, it's always worthwhile looking out for those little yellow stickers in the supermarkets and the decent discounts they offer.

If shoppers time their trip to the shops right, they can get your hands on everything from meat to bread for as little as 10p.

The popular yellow sticker bargains tend to be found in the 'reductions' sections at most of our favourite supermarket chain stores.

They're essentially clearance items and can include anything and everything from a damaged tin of beans to a packets of biscuits that are approaching their expiry date.

And with Christmas around the corner, we're all on the lookout for bargains and the more money we can save, the better.

So, as reported by the ECHO, here is a rundown of when the savvy shopper should head to which store to find the yellow sticker shelf freshly stacked.

Tesco

Between 6.30pm - 7pm

Through trial and error, one shopper managed to pinpoint when his local Tesco store reaches for the sticker gun.

He said: "We have learnt by trial and error when the best times are, it took us three to five visits to nail the best time for Tesco reductions.

"We eventually worked out that between 6.30 and 7pm is the best time for Tesco."

Aldi

8am

Leslie Horton posted a picture of her Aldi food haul on the Facebook group LatestDeals after discovering Aldi has its own 'yellow sticker' hour.

Leslie revealed her trick was to go first thing in the morning as soon as the shop opened.

She added: "Turns out going to Aldi at 8am is not only quiet, but a bargain fest too.”

Asda

Between 8pm and 9pm for 24-hour stores, half an hour before closing for others

According to bargain hunters on MoneySavingExpert, the best time to pick up a cheap food haul at Asda is between 7pm and closing.

Money-saver Lisa Parry told the publication she managed to bag £60 worth of shopping for just £2.55 back in 2017, thanks to being in the right place at the right time.

Lisa says the best time to visit your store is usually between 8pm and 9pm for 24-hour stores, and half an hour before closing for others.

Morrisons

Around lunchtime

According to MoneySavingExpert, reductions tended to start late morning or lunchtime, but Morrisons said it's up to individual store managers.

Aim for after lunch, as that's when the reductions start to drop.

Sainsbury’s

1pm for 25% off, 5pm for 50% off or 8pm for 75% off

According to money-savers, Sainsbury's tend to reduce items by up to 25% at 1pm, by up to 50% at 5pm and then again by 75% at 8pm.
