Aldi announces changes to its opening hours on weekends

Aldi has announced a change to the way its stores operate on the weekend.

The supermarket has already changed its opening hours in the week, closing two hours early at 8pm to allow its staff to restock during the coronavirus crises.

Now Aldi, which has 51 stores across Wales, has announced it is offering Sunday morning slots to NHS, Police and the Fire Service and will open early to cater to them.

Aldi said: "It's never been so important to look after each other. From this Sunday, we'll be opening early for emergency workers.

"Scottish store times differ slightly and will be open between 8.30am and 9.00am."

Most stores in the UK open between 10am and 4pm on a Sunday, but will now open 30 minutes earlier for some key workers.

Checkouts will open at 10am where those people will also take priority.

In a statement, Aldi said: "We're here for emergency workers.

"If you're a key worker in the NHS, Police or Fire Service we are opening our stores between 9:30amd and 10am each Sunday to enable you to get everything you need."

"Our checkouts will open at 10am, where you'll also take priority.

"Thank you from everyone at Aldi."
