Aldi announces big change to trolley and basket stations

Much like other leading supermarkets across the country, Aldi is struggling with high demand.

Shoppers have been panic buying for the last few weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Until recently, the budget supermarket put restrictions on certain items - and customers could only buy limited amounts of items in high demand.

These restrictions have since been lifted - except on hand wash (maximum 4 products per shopper), shower gel (maximum 4 products per shopper) and UHT milk (maximum 2 products per shopper).

However, this weekend - Saturday, April 4 to Sunday, April 5, a new measure will be introduced in stores.

Customers will now be offered wipes to disinfect the basket or trolley they pick up at the entrance of the store.

Aldi has also introduced special opening hours reserved for the elderly and NHS workers.

Early opening on Sundays is reserved for NHS workers, and those who work in the emergency services, while exclusive access will be given to elderly and vulnerable customers on Monday mornings.
