Aldi and Asda implement new 'no touch' rules for supermarket shoppers

Supermarket giants Asda and Aldi are urging shoppers not to touch products they're not planning on buying.

The move comes as coronavirus lockdown is rolled out for a further three weeks, and efforts are being ramped up even further to stop the spread of the virus.

It's part of latest measures being rolled out across Britain's supermarkets to safeguard customers and help implement social distancing guidelines, reports the Mirror.

Asda now says it is hoping to prevent further spread of coronavirus by asking customers not to touch items they don't intend to purchase.

The message on its website says: "There will also be clear signage, directional barriers and floor markings to help you move around our store easily and maintain a two-metre distance from other customers and our colleagues.

"You are allowed to bring your children and other members of your household to our stores, but we ask that you keep this to a minimum to help us maintain social distancing advice.

"We’re asking customers to only touch items they intend to purchase and to use cashless payment wherever they can to minimise contact.

"There will be regular announcements on Asda radio to remind customers of their responsibility to apply social distancing rules, and to help you do this we are closing every other self-checkout till."

Aldi has also issued warnings to customers, urging them to touch only items they intend to purchase
