Aldi adjusts its opening hours as supermarket coronavirus measures changed

Budget supermarket Aldi has made a range of changes to how it will operate - including to its opening hours.

The changes are being introduced from today (Monday, April 13), with some of the rules initially introduced to stop panic-buying now being lifted.

From this week, the supermarket's opening hours will be extended, reports Chronicle Live.

Restrictions on how many of each items people can buy will also be relaxed.

The German supermarket chain's chief executive, Giles Hurley, said a priority shopping time will also be opened up to more key workers.

Care home workers, St John's Ambulance staff and first responders will be able to join a priority time 30 minutes before stores open on Sundays as well as emergency workers.

n a message to shoppers,  Aldi  CEO Giles Hurley said: "I would like to personally thank you for your continued patience and co-operation during these unprecedented times.

"There is no doubt that we have all had to radically change the way we go about our daily lives, not least in the way we shop.

"If we continue to work together, we can undoubtedly overcome this challenge and safeguard the wellbeing of both you, our amazing customers, and also our incredible colleagues who are working tirelessly to keep the nation fed."

He added: "From Monday, April 13, we will remove all of our remaining product restrictions.

"Our shelves are now well-stocked throughout the day, so there is no need to visit stores first thing in the morning.

"In fact, from Tuesday, April 14, we will be extending our opening hours in almost all of our stores so you can shop until 10pm Monday to Saturday, when our stores are quieter."

Aldi is also following the actions of other supermarkets by increasing the contactless card payment limit from £30 to £45.
