Alder Hey gives update about appointments on Queen Elizabeth II's funeral

Alder Hey Children's Hospital has given an update to all patients with an appointment on Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

The children's hospital has asked patients to attend their appointments unless told otherwise. Alder Hey added if an appointment has to be postponed, patients will be contacted directly and it will be rescheduled for the next available time.

A spokesperson for Alder Hey said: "Please attend your appointment this bank holiday Monday unless told otherwise. Urgent procedures and appointments will go ahead as planned. However, any patient appointments or procedures affected will be contacted directly and their appointment rescheduled as quickly as possible."

Monday, September 19 will be a bank holiday to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The late Queen died at her Balmoral estate on Thursday, September 8 aged 96.

Her Majesty's son, King Charles III, declared Monday a bank holiday to allow the country to mourn. The country is expecting a number of disruptions and cancellations to services on the day of the funeral.

Liverpool Women's Hospital has confirmed there will be some changes to appointments on the day of the funeral. Several supermarkets including Aldi, Lidl and Asda will also close.

Museums and tourist attractions such as Tate Liverpool and all the National Museums will not open.
