Australia's Dylan Alcott has been thwarted in his two-pronged assault on Wimbledon wheelchair tennis titles, after losing the quad doubles final.
Alcott and Sam Schroder, the Dutchman he faces in Saturday's singles final, had looked a formidable pairing but were defeated in Friday's final 6-1 3-6 6-4 by the Anglo-US pairing of Andy Lapthorne and veteran David Wagner.
It meant back-to-back wins for the 47-year-old Wagner, who'd been beaten by Alcott in the singles semi-finals, and Lapthorne following their victory in the French Open.
"Me and David got it going early and played well to win that first set and then it was tough from there," said Lapthorne, who won the inaugural event with his pal Alcott in 2019.
