Alcohol confiscated after crowds flock to Colwick Country Park

Alcohol has been confiscated after large crowds gathered by a lake at Colwick Country Park on Wednesday (June 16).

A Nottingham City Councillor has warned it won't "tolerate irresponsible behaviour in our open spaces, parks are for everyone to enjoy" after Nottinghamshire Live captured images of groups drinking alcohol, playing games such as football and enjoying the weather as music blared from several speakers.

Community protection officers were at the scene on Wednesday evening as scorching temperatures attracted hundreds to the popular site.

But the city council sent a stern warning over alcohol consumption at the beauty spot.

Nottingham City Council's Operational Response Team tweeted: "Numerous alcohol confiscations carried out at Colwick Country Park this afternoon already as people came out to enjoy the sunshine. CPOs will be patrolling to advise about the PSPO and to remind everyone to stay out of the lake and take their litter home."

Councillor Neghat Khan, Labour councillor for the Dales ward at the city council, added: "We won't tolerate irresponsible behaviour in our open spaces, parks are for everyone to enjoy. Break the rules and enforcement action will be taken."
