Alcaraz sees off Daniel to reach French Open third round

NEW DELHI: Carlos Alcaraz, the world number one, showcased his skills at the French Open by overcoming a challenging test against Japan's Taro Daniel. In a four-set battle, Alcaraz emerged victorious with a scoreline of 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, securing a spot in the third round in Paris.

After a dominant first-round win as the top seed in a Grand Slam, Alcaraz started strongly against Daniel, comfortably taking the first set with two breaks of serve.

However, Daniel fought back in the second set, seizing a 3-0 lead and capitalizing on Alcaraz's errors. The Japanese player displayed relentless hitting from the baseline, leveling the match.

Nevertheless, Alcaraz swiftly regained his focus in the third set, breaking early and closing it out convincingly while conceding only one game late on.

Returning to his dominant form, Alcaraz served out the match, securing his place in the next round and setting up a clash against Denis Shapovalov, the 26th seed from Canada.

Alcaraz's impressive performance demonstrates his maturity and ability to navigate challenging matches, establishing him as a potential title contender.
