Madeleine Albright, the US secretary of state who under Bill Clinton helped shape the country’s stance on the Balkans and Iraq, is to pass on her hard-earned wisdom to one of her successors – though an entirely fictional one.
She is to take a guest role as herself in CBS political drama Madam Secretary, starring Téa Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, a secretary of state drafted in following the suspicious death of her predecessor. She then attempts to wrest control of global events at the same time as she wrangles her family life.
The Hollywood Reporter states that Albright is to feature in a storyline where she advises McCord on dealing with a fellow advisor, and avoid her reputation with the president, played by Keith Carradine, being diminished.
Leoni tweeted a photo of Albright on set:

It’s not Albright’s first taste of TV fame, having previously appeared in wholesome growing-pains drama Gilmore Girls in 2005. At 78, she is still working, as chair of investment and strategy firm Albright Stonebridge Group; she also advises the Hague Institute for Global Justice and the World Justice Project.
