Albion Rovers chairman gives boss Kevin Harper vote of confidence after poor League Two start

Albion Rovers chairman Eddie Hagerty has backed boss Kevin Harper to improve their form following defeat to Elgin.

Going into the international break, Rovers’ sit just two points off bottom spot and the relegation play-off spot.

They have suffered three straight defeats with the latest coming in the 3-1 defeat to Elgin.

Strikes from Rory MacEwan, Shane Sutherland and a Ross Clarke own goal were enough for City. Smart Osadolor salvaged a late consolation for the hosts but it wasn’t enough to mask a Cliftonhill horror show.

After narrowly avoiding the drop last term, concerns about the rest of the campaign in Coatbridge are on the rise, however supremo Hagerty says they will give their gaffer time.

He told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser: “It’s a disappointing result against Elgin, but we have to move on.

“We are conscious of the players we have been missing, like Callum Home and Giuliano Morena from Saturday.

“We know that results have not been good enough in the past couple of weeks and so does Kevin, but only a few months ago he got us out of relegation trouble.

“We believe we have a much better squad than we did last season that Kevin has brought together. Kevin has the tools to do well in this division and it’s not a concern for me, in my opinion he will do it soon.”
