Albion Rovers boss Kevin Harper says he has had no contact with Alloa following manager job link

Albion Rovers boss says he has had no contact with Championship side Alloa regarding the vacant manager’s job.

Harper has emerged as one of the frontrunners for the role at the Wasps with some bookmakers following the departure of Jim Goodwin for St Mirren.

Having led the League Two side to a miraculous escape from relegation last term, Harper admits it doesn’t surprise him that people are taking notice.

However, the gaffer reckons that it just shows the players that they can be noticed by clubs further up the SPFL pyramid.

Harper said he would not consider a move to Recreation Park – unless an approach was made to the Coatbridge outfit.

“It’s news to me that I’m on the list or that I’ve been mentioned,” he told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser.

“It’s nice to be mentioned for these kind of jobs in the Championship, but I think it really is a credit to the work myself, Joe and the players did last season.

“It’s the kind of thing that makes people take notice and that’s something that the players can take something from.

“For me I’ve got my work to do here and until an approach was made to the club it’s not something I will think about yet.”
