Albion Rovers boss hopes to have key men back for Annan test

Brian Reid hopes to have key players back for today's visit of Annan Athletic, as Albion Rovers bid to bounce back from their first defeat in League Two this season.

The Rovers boss watched his side get turned over 3-0 by Elgin last week, but he hopes summer signing Charlie Reilly could make his return and help the Cliftonhill outfit return to winning ways in a highly competitive division.

Reid told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "Annan is a tough game because they are showing a good bit of form.

"But we are hoping to have one or two back for that game that might help us.

"Jamie McKernon was missing for the last two games and he's a big player for us.

"Charlie Reilly could be available after missing last Saturday with an ankle injury.

"Max Wright has been missing with an Achilles strain, so we'll need to see how he is, but that's three players that could come back in and help us.

"It's a tough, competitive league.

"It doesn't matter who is top and who is bottom of this division at the moment, everyone can beat each other, so you need as strong a squad as possible.

"There's not a team miles ahead of everyone else."

Kelty Hearts and Forfar lead the way from third-place Annan, while Rovers sit fifth.

Reid now hopes the club can keep their strong home record going, having lost just once in their last eight outings at Cliftonhill in all competitions.

The 50-year-old - whose side have beaten Edinburgh City and drawn with Stenhousemuir at home in the league - added: "Our home record has been good so hopefully it can continue.

"You've got to make sure you work hard on the opposition and win your battles, be on your A-game.

"If you do that you've got a chance.

"As I say, anyone can beat anyone.

"People will talk about Kelty and them spending a lot of money, but they went up to Forfar at the weekend and Forfar were probably feel unlucky not to take the three points, so it shows you.

"We could go back up to Elgin this week and beat them, that's how tight it is.

"You never get carried away when you get a couple of good results because it can soon bite you on the backside."
