Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid 'still in the dark' over signings

Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid says he’s still in the dark over whether or not signings he has made will be eligible to play, if and when the season gets back up and running.

Reid brought in experienced defenders Paul Gallacher, Grant Evans and Mark Sideserf on loan from Pollok, and had several others waiting in the wings when lower league football was suspended indefinitely.

Reid says he’s still in the dark and will wait for guidance from the Scottish Government next week.

He said: “Until such times a we know where we’re at it’s difficult to do anything in that regard.

“I’ve been in contact with the players as much as I can, but it’s difficult to know what to say to them, and I think they know that.”

Reid says everyone is waiting to see what guidance is given at the next review date.

He said: “It will be the government who makes the decision on when we’re starting, so we need to wait and see what happens.

“It’s disappointing that the season has been disrupted but it is what it is and we’re in a position where we don’t know.

“Hopefully in the next week or so we’ll know one way or another whether we’re playing or not, and that would be helpful because we could then plan ahead.

“Not knowing what we’re doing is frustrating, but we all need to get on with it.”
