Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid is still looking to bring in reinforcements

Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid is still hopeful of bringing in new players as he tries to arrest a two-game losing streak in League Two.

An as-yet unidentified trialist scored Rovers’ goal in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Forfar, and Reid will look at potentially signing him in the near future.

But Reid says he’s restricted to loans at the moment, and needs players that can come in and hit the ground running.

He said: “I’ve been trying, but it’s difficult, because you can get loans, but they’re often young boys out of youth teams.

“I’m not saying those boys can’t come in and do it, but there’s no point bringing boys in just to fill a space – they’ve got to come in and make an impact.

“We want boys who can come in and start for us, if we can, but I’ll keep looking – the door’s certainly not closed.

“There’s not a lot out there, that’s a problem, but we’ll keep trying.”

On his trialist, Reid said: “He has been in training for the last couple of weeks so we’ll keep an eye on him in the next couple of weeks.

“We can still use him in the next couple of games, so we’ll see how that develops and take it from there.

“The boy will take a boost from scoring, he was only on the park for 20 minutes, and we finished the game reasonably strongly, but the damage was already done by that time, unfortunately for us.

“You can’t lose three goals and expect to come back, it’s too little too late.

“We need to start games better, try and get that early goal and get a bit of confidence from that.

“We’ve lost the last two and lost three goals in each of them, so that’s something we need to stop.

“Every goal is preventable, we need to be better, defensively, as a unit.”
