Albion Rovers bolster their squad with loan duo

Albion Rovers have brought in Finn Ecrepont and Gabe Skeoch on loan from Ayr United to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Left-back Ecrepont has 21 appearances at Scotland youth level, while 'wide player' Skeoch can play in a number of positions across the park.

Finn Ecrepont was part of the first-team squad last season, making his Championship debut at 17, while Skeoch played for Irvine Vics and the Ayr United reserves squad.

Manager Brian Reid told the club's website: "What stood out for me was that they were both so keen to come and do well for our club.

"They fit the profile of the type of players we want here, hungry to do well and improve as footballers.

“Finn was actually on the phone to me straight away telling me how keen he was to come and play for the club and how much he valued the opportunity which for an 18-year-old impressed me.

“Both are highly rated by Mark Kerr and everyone at Ayr, and it’s a club I have a really good relationship with.”

Reid added: "I am really happy with the players we have brought in so far. We still have other targets and I am looking for probably another two or three players.”

Finn Ecrepont saiid: "I want to be playing every week and this gives me a chance to do that. Brian was really good to talk to and it was an easy decision.

"I have played against some of the world's best young players through my Scotland appearances and I am hoping to really kick on. I am a really positive player – I want to run myself into the ground for the team. I am not shy of a tackle either."

Skeoch said: "Both of us are buzzing, I can remember going to Ayr matches when I was younger when Brian was in charge. When I spoke to him he was really ambitious and keen to have to us on board.”

"I have been playing in the juniors in Ayrshire which was really tough but rewarding and it made into a better player. I am not afraid to take players on and get to the bye-line. I can’t wait to get started.”
