Albion Rovers 'better prepared' for Forfar, says boss after injury crisis last time out

Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid admits his side will be better prepared for the challenge of Forfar this weekend – as he won’t have nine key players missing like the last time.

A depleted Rovers side were edged out 1-0 at Station Park in December by the Loons, but the Cliftonhill outfit won’t have to deal with such an injury crisis when the Angus men come calling on Saturday in League Two.

Reid’s side go into the clash off the back of two 4-0 victories over Bonnyrigg Rose and Stranraer, which has lifted them off the bottom of the table. Seventh place Forfar are just two points ahead of Rovers and victory on Saturday would see them leapfrog their opponents.

Reid said: “We had nine players missing the last time we played them but we held our own and probably should have got a draw out of the game, so we shouldn’t have to deal with that situation.

“We have got a couple of niggling injuries but hopefully everybody is fit and ready because we’ve had our fair share of injuries already this season.

“Every team is tough in this division so we need to make sure we are on it.

“Forfar are on a good run of form at the moment and they have decent players, but we go into off the back of two good results and with home advantage so we certainly go into it with confidence.

“Forfar have pulled themselves away from the bottom and are pushing to get into the play-offs like everyone else is so it will be a tough game.”
