Albion Rovers and Caledonian Braves look to strengthen after friendly draw

Both Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid and Caledonian Braves gaffer Ricky Waddell are looking to add to their squad after the friendly draw yesterday.

New signing Matthew Aitken put Rovers in front at Alliance Park after meeting a Jack Brown cross, before The Braves levelled the clash with a Jack McDowall header.

Rovers, who fielded a trialist goalkeeper, are looking to add between the sticks with first-choice Ryan Goodfellow suspended and back-up Chris Smith missing the first Betfred Cup game against Ayr through suspension.

Reid told Lanarkshire Live Sport: " The worry is that if both of them are not available we will need another goalkeeper early in the season.

"I am going to keep our bases covered with the goalkeeping situation.

"We are still going to be looking at bringing in two or three others because I do think we are just a wee bit short."

Braves' boss Waddell also hopes to snap up some of the players who were given their chance for the Lowland League outfit.

Waddell added: "It's wait and see for some of the guys we had in the game today, but I've pretty much agreed a deal with one of them.

"Hopefully we get that done and dusted soon."
