Albian Ajeti to Celtic transfer boost as West Ham striker 'still keen' on move

Albian Ajeti is 'still keen' on a move to Celtic despite the deal stalling last week.

The Hoops had agreed a season-long loan with West Ham for the striker, with an option to buy next summer.

The deal seemed to be on the verge of being complete until the 23-year-old opted to fly home to Switzerland to weigh up his options.

But Sky Sports are reporting Ajeti is still open to a move to a Parkhead, he just wants more time before he makes a final decision on his future.

Neil Lennon held talks with his representatives over the weekend, with the Swiss international currently on holiday in Sardinia.

Celtic are in the market for a new striker with Ajeti top of their shortlist.

Ivan Toney has also been linked with a move to Glasgow, but Peterborough's asking price could be too steep for the club.

Celtic got their Premiership campaign off to a flyer with a 5-1 win over Hamilton on Sunday thanks to a hat-trick from Odsonne Edouard.

And Lennon said he was still hopeful of making a few more additions in the transfer market.

He said: "Maybe two or three just to add. We lost seven or eight in the close season.

“Moi (Elyounoussi) was already here, so we’ve only really brought Vasilis (Barkas) in.

“In terms of the playing pool we’d like to add two or three more if we can.

"You can never have enough good strikers, and good defenders, and good midfield players and good goalkeepers, so we're always looking to improve and add to what we already have which is an immense amount of talent."
