Pundit Richard Foster has branded Celtic star Albian Ajeti 's penalty tumble against Kilmarnock "a con" and "cheating".
The Swiss striker went down under a challenge from keeper Colin Doyle and was awarded a penalty in the 4-0 victory on Tuesday night. It was a crucial moment in the game as Odsonne Edourd 's spot-kick put his side 2-0 up and coasting.
Ajeti was subsequently cited for simulation by the SFA 's disciplinary department on Thursday and could face a two-game ban.
The Hoops were "astonished" at the notice of complaint and are set to fight the charge with a fast-track hearing to be held on Monday.
But Partick Thistle right-back Foster reckons the governing body have got the decision spot on and the move will act as a deterrent to others.
He told Go Radio : "It's the slightest of contact. Football is a contact sport.
"If you have got two players running together, they are going to bump into each other and are going to tangle.
"Does the touch on the Ajeti's leg from the Kilmarnock goalkeeper make him fall over? No it doesn't therefore he's thrown himself to the ground.
"It's a dive and the referee is unfortunate enough to be conned by it but that is what it is, it's a con, it's cheating and you don't want it in the game.
"It's hard enough for teams like Kilmarnock to compete with Celtic anyway but when they are getting goals given to them like that it makes it much more difficult for them.
"It leaves a sour taste in your mouth and I'm happy that it's been brought froward like this because it's there to be a deterrent and you don't want it in the game. The only way to stamp it out is to retrospectively punish teams and players who have got away with one."
