Albian Ajeti rubbishes Celtic 'dive' claims as defiant striker sends pointed 'call me what you want' message to pundits

Defiant Albian Ajeti brushed off claims he dived to win a penalty against Kilmarnock.

The Celtic striker was cleared following appeal after the SFA cited him for simulation during last week's Premiership clash at Rugby Park.

Ajeti went down under pressure from keeper Colin Doyle during the visitors' 4-0 victory in Ayrshire.

Partick Thistle defender and pundit Richard Foster branded his tumble "a con" while Charlie Nicholas insisted there was "no contact" from Doyle.

But Celtic boss Neil Lennon vigorously defended the 23-year-old and Tuesday's SFA tribunal returned a "not proven" verdict.

Speaking on Thursday, Ajeti insists accusations he went down too easily are wide of the mark.

He said: "Yeah, I was a bit surprised. I didn't know about the process here.

"Now I know and I'm happy that I could play.

"There are many things footballers need to hear about that are not true. This is part of our profession, we have to accept it.

"They can call us whatever they want but we know what's going on on the pitch.

"If they want to call me that they should call me that, but it isn't true.

"But, as I said, this is part of football and we have to accept it and keep our focus on the right things."
