Albian Ajeti left out of Celtic squad as striker's exile under John Kennedy continues

Celtic have left Albian Ajeti out of the squad altogether for their clash with Rangers as the Swiss international's exile under John Kennedy continues.

The striker joined from West Ham United in the summer for a fee of around £5million but has flattered to deceive at Parkhead.

Despite a respectable goal return of one every 141 minutes he's managed just 10 Premiership starts, with a further nine appearances off the bench.

Ajeti hasn't played at all since being substituted after 62 minutes in the win over Aberdeen in February.

And the Celtic striker hasn't played since Neil Lennon's departure, failing to make a single appearance under interim boss Kennedy.

The 24-year-old was on the bench for the draw with Dundee United but has not even been included in the squad to face Rangers.

The Swiss was criticised by Lennon for his application, with the former boss saying after the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock: "Ajeti’s work ethic hasn’t been great and he hasn’t been in the best condition".

The former West Ham man scored and won a penalty in that match but that's the only occasion in the Premiership or Europa League he's completed 90 minutes.
