Albian Ajeti in Celtic 'predatory striker' claim as he looks to end Switzerland goal drought

Albian Ajeti reckons he and Rangers loan star Cedric Itten can end Switzerland's goalscoring problems.

The Celtic striker received a surprise recall to the Swiss national team along with Itten, who Steven Gerrard sent out to Greuther Furth in the Bundesliga in the summer.

Switzerland face a double-header against Northern Ireland and Lithuania having failed to score against Ian Baraclough's side and European champions Italy in their last two matches.

And Ajeti believes he and Itten can solve their problems in finding the net after a year away from international football.

The striker, who has one goal against Iceland in 10 caps for his country, said: "It's a special feeling for me to be back in the international scene.

"There's a great atmosphere here and for me, it's nice to see some familiar faces again.

"I'm delighted Cedric has been called up too. We are both predatory strikers with a nose for scoring goals.

"Hopefully, we can get the chance to play together in the qualifiers coming up."

Meanwhile, Itten is hoping to add to his three goals in just four international caps, although two of them came against Gibraltar in a Euro 2020 qualifiers two years ago.

He said: "Maybe I am in the squad because we are playing Northern Ireland and I have good experience of playing against British defenders.

"It's definitely a lot harder there and I learned how to deal with it when I was in Scotland.

"It's a great honour to be selected for the squad and it's great to meet up with Albian again."
