Albian Ajeti explains Celtic captain transformation after Ange Postecoglou gave him the armband

Shock Celtic captain Albian Ajeti revealed he went from calm to commander after being handed the armband.

The Swiss striker led the Hoops out for Ange Postecoglou’ s first game as manager against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.

And Ajeti marked the occasion by scoring the first goal of the Australian’s reign to equalise.

Youngster Owen Moffat put them ahead before Odsonne Edouard made sure in stoppage time.

That made for a good day all round for Ajeti, who couldn’t hide his pride at taking over from Scott Brown, even if it’s only for one match.

He told Celtic TV: “The lads know me, I’m a very calm guy in the dressing room and I do some jobs.

“But during a game it is different. I tried to motivate the team and I tried to lead the team. Obviously it was a great feeling, I don’t need to hide that. It’s a great feeling to have, to captain such a club like Celtic.

“But as long as I can play for this club, I’m happy. I don’t need to have the armband.

“It’s nice to score and I’m happy to help the team. There were a lot of young players like Moff, who scored and I’m happy for him. They all trained hard.

“It’s still pre-season but we want to score and we want to win.

The most important thing was at 1-0 down we showed the reaction. If I could score then I’m just happy to help the team.”
