Albian Ajeti Celtic transfer draws closer after Neil Lennon 'intervention'

West Ham striker Albian Ajeti’s proposed move to Celtic has taken another big step forward.

Sky Sports has reported the Swiss forward is in Glasgow and ready to undergo a medical ahead of completing a loan move to the Scottish champions by Tuesday.

Record Sport, however, understands this not to be the case just yet but is believed to be getting ready to travel north.

Parkhead manager Neil Lennon held further talks with Ajeti's agents on Thursday last week after the player asked for more time to consider the transfer, and it's reported the boss has personally saved the deal from falling through.

A host of other names have been linked with joining Celtic to boost their pool of strikers, such as Peterborough's Ivan Toney and free agents Steven Fletcher and Lyle Taylor.

But Lennon looks to have settled on the Hammers man, who only made nine league appearances for the London club after his big move from Basle last summer.

Sunday's 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock underlined Lennon's urge to sign another forward after Odsonne Edouard and substitute Patryk Klimala drew blanks.

Vakoun Issouf Bayo's expected departure to Toulouse on loan will also created a space for a new frontman and it appears that Ajeti will fill the void, subject to his medical.
