Albian Ajeti Celtic dive verdict revealed after striker's fate is decided by SFA panel

Albian Ajeti won’t be banned for two games after an SFA panel returned a not proven verdict after his hearing for diving.

The Celtic striker went down to win a penalty in their 4-0 Scottish Premiership victory against Kilmarnock, appearing to exaggerate the contact made by ‘keeper Colin Doyle.

Odsonne Edouard stepped up and scored as The Hoops went on to win comfortably.

But the Swiss front man was hit with a notice of complaint and offered a two-match ban.

Celtic, who were reportedly “astonished” that the player had been cited, fought the charge which resulted in today’s three-man panel hearing evidence.

And Ajeti won’t be sidelined after it wasn’t proven that he was guilty of simulation.

He’s now free to face St Mirren tomorrow night and St Johnstone on Saturday.

Neil Lennon slammed the governing body for citing Ajeti after the charge was announced.

He said: “If you’ve three referees looking at that and they can’t see that there’s contact, then I think the three referees need to be looked at rather than anything else.

“I’m pretty sure one or two other referees said there was contact, so why this process is still ongoing, I don’t understand.

“I couldn’t believe it. You see some of the other things that are going on around the country that we don’t make a big deal of.

I’m surprised, but we’ll defend it as vigorously as possible. He (Ajeti) is not upset. He’s just bewildered by it all.

“He just doesn’t understand why these charges have been brought, but we’re confident we can win the appeal.

“He’s gone for the ball and the goalkeeper has made contact with his foot or his ankle, so he’s gone over and it’s a penalty.

“Where this charge of simulation comes from is absolutely beyond me.

“I certainly don’t understand where this one has come from because you can clearly see that there is contact."
