Alberto Salazar responds to Mo Farah's claims disgraced coach misled him

Alberto Salazar insists he never misled Mo Farah while coaching the Brit to Olympic glory.

Disgraced Salazar has been hit with a four-year ban from athletics after the US anti-doping agency found him guilty of several violations.

Salazar has denied the allegations and plans to appeal the ban - handed down after a four-year investigation and two-year court battle.

Farah worked with Salazar at his base in Oregon, at the Nike Oregon Project, from 2011 to 2017.

He continued to train there despite a BBC Panorama documentary in 2015 which raised questions over the American coach and whether he had violated anti-doping laws.

On Friday night, as he prepared for the Chicago Marathon, Farah claimed a witch-hunt again him.

“There is a clear agenda to this. I have seen it many times. I have seen it with Raheem Sterling. I’ve seen it with Lewis Hamilton. I can’t win whatever I do."

Amid his accusations, he claimed he had flown back to Portland to speak to Salazar face to face after the BBC Panorama documentary.

“He assured me at the time these are just allegations,” said Farah. “And that hasn’t been true.”

However Salazar has responded to Farah’s declaration, and has told the New York Times that was not the case.

“I’m sorry Mo feels that way,” Salazar said in an email.

“But I’ve never lied to anyone about anything related to this investigation.

"Before even Usada brought this case, I made public my views regarding the allegations in this case.”
