Alberth Elis transfer battle as Celtic target to be in middle of signing tug of war

Celtic target Alberth Elis has offers to move to Europe as Houston Dynamo do their best to keep him at the club.

The Parkhead outfit reportedly had a £3m bid turned down last year with Emilio Izaguirre confirming Celtic had an interest in his countryman.

Elis admitted earlier this year he was frustrated that he never got a chance to speak to the Hoops.

He is out of contract at the end of this year and has been offered a new deal by the Texan club, but he has made it clear he has ambitions to follow Izaguirre's footsteps and play in Europe.

And Houston Dynamo sports director, Matt Jordan, revealed the 24-year-old is considering offers from clubs in Europe, with Anderlecht and Fenerbahce also interested in the 42-times capped wide man.

He said: "We want him to stay, but he has offers from Europe.

"Alberth means a lot to this club and we see him as part of the long-term vision here."

Elis stated last month he would soon make a decision with Neil Lennon's men a potential move.

He said: "There are teams that have been watching me and I think that we will make a decision soon.

"But I have never hidden my ambitions of playing in Europe one day."
