Albert Drive fully opens to traffic following November fire

Albert Drive in Pollokshields in the southside of Glasgow has fully opened to traffic again following the fire which caused the collapse of a tenement block back in November.

The road was closed to all traffic between Shields Road and St Andrews Road, with local diversions put in place following the blaze, which necessitated the attendance of nine fire engines and two height appliances on scene.

The fire meant that residents had to be evacuated from nearby flats, with one man taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

While Pollokshields Primary School and Pollokshields Library also had to close as a result.

And now in a statement released by Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) this morning they have confirmed that the road has now reopened.
