Albert Dock sees massive emergency service presence as body found in water

A number of roads at the Albert Dock have been cordoned off after a body was found in the water.

Merseyside Police rushed to Salthouse Dock at around 3.55pm on Friday, March 25, following reports of a body being found in the water. Once at the scene police found a man in the dock.

The man was removed from the water but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin.

An investigation is currently underway and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area. An area around the Dock is currently cordoned off.

The cordon includes a small section of The Strand, Salthouse Quay, Hartley Quay and Gower Street. Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard are all in attendance at the scene.

Dozens of police vehicles including cars and vans, along with a search and rescue unit from the Coastguard are within the cordon.
