Alastair Campbell was forced to apologise on GMB today after he incorrectly announced that The Queen had died.
The former Labour spin doctor accidentally said Her Majesty had died in an unfortunate slip of the tongue.
He said : "We talked a lot recently about Prince Philip after the death of the Queen."
He got mixed up and had meant to say the Queen's husband The Duke of Edinburgh had died., but lots of viewers took to social media to pick up on the blunder and comment on it.
Evil Del said: "Alastair Campbell just accidentally announced the death of the Queen on #GMB."
Simmo said: "According to Alistair Campbell the Queen died!!"
Chris Sproul said: "When did the Queen die?"
Scully said: "Did he say Death of the Queen then??"
And Sad World said: "Death of the queen?"
Alastair quickly realised his mistake and interrupted Susanna Reid as she was questioning former footballer Vinnie Jones.
He said: "Sorry can I just say something, I think I may have just accidentally announced the death of the Queen. I meant Prince Philip."
Susanna was quick to back him up and console him as she said: "It's ok, people understood exactly what you meant."
Later in the show Alastair said his goodbyes to Susanna following his guest hosting stint on the show.
He said he'd enjoyed his time on the show and Susanna said: "It's been a pleasure."
