A pizza deliveryman has received the tip of a lifetime after a local pastor heard he had fallen on hard times because of medical bills he was struggling to pay.
Kenneth Felber, who delivers pizza in Anchorage, Alaska, was the beneficiary of the act of human kindness on Sunday after arriving at a local middle school – where he was met with a standing ovation, according to KTUU News.
Pastor Dan Krause, of the Chugach Covenant Church, then called the 53-year-old deliveryman on stage, asking him what was the best tip he’d ever received.
A deliveryman for more than a decade, Felber said the most he’d ever received was $100 only for the pastor to hand over a cash and cheque and ask: "How does a tip of $1,900 sound?"
"We don't have a lot of really wealthy people, what we have is really generous people," said Mr Krause. “I was hoping for $1,000, our congregation put together $1,900 without even knowing this was going to come."
Felber said the donation had left him “glowing” for the rest of the week.
The story comes just a week after a Dominoes deliveryman in Indiana recieved a $1,268 tip from students at Indiana Wesleyan University.
James Gilpin was the lucky recpient of gift cards, inspirational notes and a check for $1,268 (£821) following a lesson from CEO of Residential Education Keith Newman, teaching his 3,000 students to “Do for one what you wish you could do for everyone. Gilpin said he will used the surprise windfall to help with Christmas presents for his two young children.
