Alarming footage shows floods in Sutton after treacherous rain

Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to Sutton to tackle flooding on the Dublin Road last night.

Footage of the scene shows water pouring into the street and a segment of the Dublin Road completely submerged underwater.

Three units had to come rescue vulnerable people and get them to safety.

DFB tweeted: “Last night three units were called to flooding on the Dublin Road into Sutton. Local residents were assisted at the scene and some vulnerable people were helped to a safe place in their homes.

“Firefighters used poly booms to protect property and portable pumps to alleviate the flooding.

“Crews from @DubCityEnviro brought specialised pumps to the incident which helped enormously.”

The units from Kilbarrack, North Strand and Phibsborough fire stations conducted flood relief operations shortly after 11pm last night.

The weather dried up this morning but patchy light rain and drizzle will develop in the afternoon, clearing eastwards to scattered showers this evening. Highest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees in a light variable breeze.

A mix of scattered showers and clear spells are set to start tonight but showers will become more isolated as the night goes on. Lowest temperatures of 1 or 2 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.
