Alanis Morissette is going on tour to celebrate her iconic album Jagged Little Pill – and she’s also releasing her first new music in eight years.

The singer announced on Monday that she will hit the road in 2020 to mark the 25th anniversary of Jagged Little Pill, which was released in June 1995 and remains one of her most celebrated works.

She also unveiled a new single titled “Reasons I Drink”, the first excerpt from her upcoming new album Such Pretty Forks in the Road, which she will unveil in full on 1 May, 2020.

Such Pretty Forks in the Road will be Morissette’s first album since the 2012 Havoc and Bright Lights – and her ninth studio album overall.

On the Jagged Little Pill anniversary tour, the singer will be joined by the rock band Garbage as well as singer Liz Phair.

Pre-sales for the tour will begin on 10 December at 11am local time in each show's location.

Fans can sign up to a mailing list online in order to receive a code enabling them to access the pre-sale.

General sale will follow on 13 December at 11am local time.

The North American tour will begin on 2 June, 2020 in Portland, Oregon and wrap up on 25 July in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jagged Little Pill was recently adapted into a musical with a book by writer, producer and filmmaker Diablo Cody. It will officially open on Broadway on 5 December.
