Alan Sugar says he'll quit Apprentice in 4 years and last task will be to plan his funeral

Alan Sugar has announced that he wants to carry on being part of The Apprentice until it reaches 20 series - after which he will consider retiring.

He has also revealed he already knows what will be the final task - planning his funeral.

How cheery!

Ahead of the next series of The Apprentice, which airs this Thursday after a two-year hiatus, Lord Sugar was quizzed on whether he was looking to quit the show in two years' time.

"Look, I'm not planning to quit the show in two years, I don't know where you get this two years thing from," he snarked. "First of all, I've publicly stated that I really want to make it 20 years. So this one is 16, so I've got four more to do to achieve that goal.

"I've already worked out the final task in the [last] series, which is to arrange my funeral to see how well they arrange it and what kind of coffin that they would get from me."

However, he insisted that he was "going nowhere" and that the "programme is going nowhere".

He continued: "Please enjoy this current series, which I'm sure you will, but I can assure you that while I've got health and strength in my body, it'll continue."

Lord Sugar couldn't resist the opportunity to make a dig at his frenemy Piers Morgan.

Asked whether Piers could fill his boots, he said: "As far as Piers Morgan is concerned, that would be a bit of a lead balloon, wouldn't it really? You've got to be joking."

He was also quizzed about BBC moving the show's day slot from Wednesday to Thursday for the first time ever.

"I'm not quite sure what their thinking is - maybe they're making Thursday business night," he said, referring to the fact that Dragon's Den airs before the show. "Maybe they'll get so bored they don't tune in - that's a joke!

"Again, this was a BBC decision that wasn't shared with me."
