Alan Stubbs in Rangers 'short lived reign' swipe as he declares Celtic champions

Confident Alan Stubbs has written off Rangers' title chances, insisting Celtic have dethroned their Glasgow rivals after derby day victory.

Aaron Ramsey's early opener was overturned by goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers at Ibrox, earning bragging rights and potentially the league trophy come May.

Defeat in Govan leaves the current Premiership champions six points off the pace heading into the final six games of the campaign, with their rivals also enjoying a sizeable goal difference advantage.

Captain Callum McGregor and his side are on course to lift the trophy in May just a year after Rangers ended nine years of dominance from their cross-city rivals.

And former Parkhead defender Stubbs couldn't resist a swipe at Gio van Bronckhorst's men following their 2-1 defeat.

He hailed the performance of the defence to keep out relentless Rangers pressure in the closing stage of Sunday's clash.

Stubbs posted on Twitter: "Celtic great defensive performance today and very resilient!! Title wrapped up now.

"The reign of Rangers was very short lived but Celtic have showed what champions do!!"
