Alan Shearer has summed up Newcastle United fans' frustrations with Joelinton in a scathing analysis of the Brazilian.
The forward once again endured a miserable 45 minutes as he failed to make an impact during the first half of the Magpies' FA Cup with Arsenal.
It left Shearer with no option but to criticise Joelinton for his first half performance when talking on BBC Sport at half-time.
The Magpies legend said Joelinton's touch was not one of a typically technically-talented Brazilian and said that he was starting to feel sorry for 24-year-old.
He said: "A lot of money he cost and he finds it really difficult.
"His touch is really poor and he hasn’t posed a threat.
"It’s been really frustrating watching him. I actually feel sorry for him because when the ball goes to him, it’s bouncing off him and he’s offering nothing going the other way, also."
It was criticism that caused a stir on social media, with plenty of fans backing Shearer's analysis.
" He’s spot on," one fan said. "People try and pick positives out of his performances every week. Trust me I don’t want to slag him off but he is awful and offers nothing week after week."
Another supporter commented: "This isn’t the fault of Joelinton at all. He’s playing way out of his depth.
"If questions need to be asked, ask out scouts what they were watching to fork out 40 million quid on him. Like I say, not Joelintons fault. He shouldn’t be anywhere near Premier League football."
A third fan added: "I see nothing in his performances to think he’ll ever amount to anything here."
