Alan Shearer sets challenge to Paul Pogba after Man Utd comeback

Alan Shearer has challenged Paul Pogba to prove he wants to stay at Manchester United after returning to action.

The Frenchman came off the bench in Friday night's 1-1 draw with Tottenham - his first appearance since Boxing Day.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford has been up in the air, with Real Madrid and Juventus among the clubs linked with the midfielder.

Match of the Day pundit Shearer says it's now time for the World Cup winner to commit to the Red Devils.

He wrote in The Sun : "We all saw what Paul Pogba is capable of against Tottenham — and now he has to show whether he wants to stay at Manchester United.

"Pogba looked fit and right at it after a long lay-off, but whether he stays at Man United remains to be seen.

"While Pogba did well coming off the bench, Fernandes was the best player on the pitch.

"He must be a dream to play with, making those ahead of him better players."

"It is great to see him show his qualities and the contribution he made was big in us getting a penalty," he said.

"He has had horrific, injury-hit season and he is desperate to make up for lost time. Paul has always wanted to play. He loves football.

"It has been great having him back training with us. On and off the pitch, he is such an enthusiastic and passionate boy. Everyone can see the quality he can provide.

"Paul always has a point to prove to himself and to us. He expects a lot from himself and wants to be the best. He trains hard and loves football."

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Pogba is desperate to make up for lost time.
